Evaluation 2

Product I created: Insert poster

The theme I was aiming for was the serious look in the investigators eyes to show the movie is hardcore, thrilling and action packed.me>

The departed was the poster that I was using for reference as it is similar to the genre we are doing and the style of it works well with it.

The colour scheme of the poster has a range of dark colours to go with the idea of mysterious setting. The title colours contrasts one another while playing a trick on the view making them look twice, since some of the letters look similar both ways it make's it confusing to look at. The small text are white because it makes it easier to see and it stands out to the audience.

The main image was moved towards the left as people read from left to right it makes it stand out. I kept man on the left lighter to draw attention to his face showing the serious nature of the film and the eye stair right at the view so matter where you stand to almost pressure the view in viewing the poster.

The clothes that the characters wear are common for what roles they play, the investigator wearing smart clothes whereas the villain is wearing dark clothes. This shows the difference in both the characters and where they both stand, one citizen the other a criminal.

My aim for the magazine cover was to give a few clips of some scenes in the trailer to catch the audience. The main picture is to give hte impression that the main character is looking directly at you and the eyes follow you no matter where you look at it. The dark theme is to represent the seriousness of the characters.

This is the final cut of the trailer. The main theme that we were getting at is an teenager/adult serious crime thriller. The colours and the atmosphere give the impression of seriousness and the lighting of each scene shows tha the has willingness to never stop.

What did i learn from my research?
I learned that lighting for everything is important, it can be the difference between a good scene and a great scene same foes for pictures for magazines and posters. Bright lighting for a serious scene can draw people out of not leaving that lasting impression the producers were trying to create.

How have i use synergy in my work?

The way I have created synergy in my work is the focus on the detective. He is the main face of the poster, magazine and the trailer. This allows the audience to already distinguish who the main character is and who the side characters are. He wears the same shirt throughout the all three to show his professionalism in his role as a detective. An example of other synergy are the characters in The Departed mainly the police who wear the same uniforms due to their job.
