The Departed
Cinematography -

In the trailer the departed there is a common occurrence of panning to the right. This can show different for different purposes such as quickly shown a group of people, introducing someone or showing a large object but in this case it is mostly used to show new characters.

The trailer shows a lot of medium close-ups on the main characters keeping them the key focus. This can also show that the films key focus is on the narrative wanting to give each character depth and meaning to the story.

The Departed shows an establishing shot of the city it is located in but it shows it towards the end of the trailer which is different to most other trailers where they show the location at the start of the trailer instead.

In this show he turns off the light to show his transition from good to bad showing that he is a "Rat" in the trailer. The dark atmosphere gives it a serious vibe.
Mise-En-Scene -

At 0.25 You can see the professionalism of the police by the straight line and smart uniforms which can also strike fear in others due to their authority.

The leopard print dressing gown, multiple rings and the excessive art shows the rich nature of this man which can show the power he holds with his wealth.

The get-up that he has on makes him look suspicious, someone who does't want to be seen or noticed in public.
Sound -

The start of the trailer has background sound of police sirens and cars driving by insinuating law enforcement.

Music cuts out and only his voice can be heard. This makes for a scene where they want to emphasis a sentence to have more of an impact in doing so will leave the words imprinted in the audiences head.

Transition from slow music to up beat music. The slow music is to give a bit of backstory then the sudden transition is to kick the filler scenes in to show what the film has to offer.

Music is only playing no other sound. As it cuts through different types of scenes from romance to action the same song plays through an not other sound to hide the rest of the story for when they view the movie.
